The Beginning of a Roll Print
The Beginning of a Roll photographed by Leann Crotts.
Judged First Place Lifestyle in the 2025 Down East Photo ContestÂ
“This brief moment—a kayaker, Thomas Stewart, upside down, fighting against the current with just a paddle and the will to surface—was captured through my lens. The contrast between the dark blue water and the red flare drew me in as I stood on an abandoned railroad bridge above. After pictured, I was reminded that adventure is unvarnished, untidy, and human. I am reminded from the moment that some of the most impactful shots are made during the battle rather than the win.”
The print features a luster finish, a pebble-textured glossy surface that reduces reflections while retaining strong color and contrast. The print is portrait-oriented and matted to a size of 11” x 14”; both the print and the matted frame are of archival quality.
